Why not? Every penny saved on unnecessary energy use is money that can go to service enhancements. And every example of more efficiency and less waste means one less thing for Amtrak critics to seize on. The green thing is a side benefit.
Expect great praise from the environ-mentalists for Amtrak getting what essentially amounts to a worthless piece of paper which states that Amtrak is “green.” I guess is saves the taxpayers having to fund painting the word “green” in green paint on the side of every locomotive, as is done in the private sector to achieve essentially the same thing. But this still doesn’t change the reality of Amtrak being a continuously unconstitutional money loser funded by the taxpayer year after year.
Amtrak has many areas to devote time and effort to in order to make rail travel better. This is not one of those.
Guse you obviously have not read the Constitution, Amtrak is covered not only in the Preamble, promote the general Welfare, but also Article1 section 8, but for someone of your non existent critical thinking ability and obvious lack of reading comprehension, I’m not surprised.
Yes, for most businesses, ( private or public), the largest return on investment is conservation.
I’m curious … Guse, what do you think of the land grants that essentially paid the railroads to build the original transcontinental lines? Also, presumably, any partnership between government and railroads to build tracks is also a “money loser funded by the taxpayer”? Or are you just anti-Amtrak, and don’t mind the government assistance all of the railroads get? (Also, note, every transportation method is supported by government in some way.)
What can you expect from Goosie? Even when he’s dead wrong on all accounts nothing is going to stop this troll from spouting his usual NON-SENSE. Amtrak’s commitment to improving efficiency and reducing carbon output is noble and deserves commendation for it’s effort.
Hmm…a founding signatories of APTA in 2009; one government entity giving an award to another…politics as usual!
