Someone else listed the 4th CA train the Sunset Ltd. My original post talked about the west coast, so WA and OR were included. While the emptier parts of the east side of those states is red, the populated parts at the route’s west endpoints are solid blue. The gist of my OP is that the LD routes cross a mix of political leaning areas, whereas the NEC area is predominantly blue.
I agree. My point was that although the end points of LD tran outside the NEC are blue points in between are often quite red. Consequently to keep them running has a political purpose to get approriations.
