Amtrak NEC Detour Route?

I’ve heard that the NEC has been shut down over the Thames River Bridge, and that some trains are detouring through Springfield, MA. What is their route east of Springfield? Do they stay on the old B&A through Worcester, MA?

I’m asking because that would mean a lot more rail traffic through Worcester, which would mean a great railfanning trip (if I could convice the parents to drive me, anyway…) for me. Is the bridge still closed, and are the trains running through Worcester?

Thanks in advance…

You have the right route, it is through Worcester.

There are only a few Amtrak trains that have been added to that (non-electrified) route. Busses are also being used between Boston and New Haven.

It was 3 trains in each direction Tuesday thru Friday. The new bridge is now in place and normal service has resumed.

Okay, thank you for the information. I guess I missed them.[sigh]
