Bring the train to non-Amtrak cities too. That would be a great way to promote and foster expansion.
As usual, any location in the southeast is ignored.
Cullen
I agree the complete erasure of the Southeast from this is ridiculous. NC runs several trains daily up to Yankee territory.
so theirs no more displays at Chicago union station no Iowa pacific E9.
Actually it looks like they aren’t having the Amtrak Exhibit Train go anywhere east of Toledo
atleast there’s one in NY, and SC. the exhibit train doesn’t go anywhere near Texas. to be honest. I have seen it before (with the bloody nose unit) at the museum when NS had the heritage locos in NC. I just want to see another heritage amtk loco.
We expect Amtrak to announce additional dates in the future. As the story says, Amtrak has released the spring schedule with dates through June only at this time.
Did I miss something. Russell sees a NY location, where?
Leave it to Amtrak to try to do their own thing … “Amtrak Train Days” really takes away from the overall message developed last year that “Trains Matter”. As initially started up 7 or 8 years ago, NATIONAL Train Day commorated the linking of East and West at Promontory Summit, Utah, on May 10, 1869 (being held the Saturday closest to that anniverary date); although Amtrak touts itself as being “America’s Railroad”, ATD really seems to ignore the fact that they are not the only player in the NATIONAL railroad scene.
As far as Amtrak Days in NY and SC, those are tentative, in the fall; even amtrak.com gives a tour schedule only through the end of June, so stay tuned for future announcements …
I hope the summer schedule includes Pittsburgh, served daily by the Cap Limited and Pennsylvanian. Not that I’ve done anything to move a Steel City venue along.
It seems that major rail centers in New Orleans, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Miami, Ft. Worth and San Antonio are invariably overlooked. Or should we anticipate an announcement about their inclusion for summer or fall? Youhoo Amtrak. There’s more than NEC, Chicago and California out there. Every year?
