Amtrak-Speeding up in-terminal time between Canada and U.S

Does anybody know of any program or ideas in order to hurry up the Maple Leaf and the Adriondack for example, at the boarder. As a customs officer in trainning, I have a basic idea what should be done but I would like other perspectives from others.

In the old days the customs officers would ride the train and do their checks while the train was moving.

AMTRAK AND U S CUSTOMS HAVE A NEW PROGRAM TO SPEED UP BOTH WAYS CROSSINGS IT IS WORKING WELL ON THE NIAGARA FALLS STATION SIDE

I don’t know why US and Canada Customs can’t send both of them at where ever? The federal governents should hammer out a deal where say if Amtrak is at the Canadian side, both U.S and Canadian Customs go on and check passengers together and arrest or detain who ever for what ever reason since our two countries already have an extradition treaty anyways. That way after the host country can turn over the suspect to the guest officer and then can be taken to that country’s customs office for processing.

Junctionfan needs to learn a little about Customs and Immigration operations. Customs and Immigration inspectors on both sides of the border are only interested in who and what is coming into their respective country, they are not concerned with outbound traffic. They also have no real jurisdiction outside their own country.

There have been problems at the border, but sadly,[:(] our paraniod government is behind it all! There is very little traffic on the Maple Leaf in each direction, because of the lengthy Q and A grillings passengers on the train are forced[V] to endure when entering this country[:(!]. Amtrak and VIA are not talking to one another[V], and the odds of there being any improvement in the near [xx(]future are about the same as the odds of the Bills winning the Super Bowl in my life time ( I turned 54 in september[}:)]).

Ummmmmmmm…I kind of know how it works…That’s why I’m kind of saying since I guess it was apparent in what I was getting at, there needs to be a more partnership style way of running the boarder kind of like our military involvement together in NORAD.
