Actually I found Marana AZ about 20 miles west of Tucson to be better. There is a passing siding there & the trains go by at speed making the ground tremble. There is also a grade crossing with lites & bells so you have a heads up to when a train will be coming. There is a gas stationn there so you can get food & relieve yourself. It is right off I10 just get off at the Marana exit then take the service road to the right of I10 & the tracks are right there. I saw the UPRR/UPS bullet train fly thru there & that one felt like a small earth quake had hit. However, you wll have ti use your car AC to cool down if necessary. I was there in May & it was very pleasent & I did not need to use the car AC[:p]
Ok I have been past there but my mom wants to stay away from the little town areas in the middle of no where and stay at the amtrak station instead of turning the car off and on for AC with gas near 3.00 or over and stay where its safe, has shade, has AC, and indoors because in AZ you can get hot in an car very easily compared to a car in the middle of no where in Arizona.
