Amtrak Superliner Consists California Zephyr etc

Hello Everyone,

I would like to know the carriage consists for the Amtrak California Zephyr, South West Chief, Sunset Limited, City of New Orleans, Carolinian and Piedmont. I got a couple of these off the Amtrak site, but not sure if they are Superliner trains or not?
I only need the consist as (MHC) Material Handling Car or Baggage, then Coach, Sleeper, Cafe etc. Before someone gets on here with a brainiac reponse, I live in Australia so it’s just that little bit harder for me to go down to the local Amtrak Station to check the consist out for myself.

The first four you mentioned are Superliner equipped the other two are single level cars not sure of either of those consists.
Most Superliner equipped trains operate with a Baggage Car first followed by Superliner Crew Dorm transition Car, Superliner coaches, Superliner Lounge, Superliner Diner and finally Superliner Sleepers.
Exceptions to this make up are the Empire Builders that split into two sections westbound at Spokane with one section going top Portland the other to Seattle. In that case a Baggage Car travels to Seattle followed by a Superliner transition Dorm Car, two Superliner Coaches, Superliner Sleeper, Superliner Diner. The Spokane Section operates a Superliner Lounge, Superliner Baggage Coach, Superliner Coach, and Superliner Sleeper This arrangement means to bring the two sections together again at Spokane they couple the Portland Section on the rear of the Seattle Section and the Portland power becomes the lead unit ahead of the Seattle Power.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks passengerfan, your info is very valuable, especially since I don’t have an Amtrak station down the road to go look for myself.

Heck, a lot of people in the US don’t have an Amtrak station nearby either, sad as that is to say…the above consist is pretty, um, consistent–baggage, crew dorm, coach, observation, diner, sleeper…the Coast Starlight and apparently the Empire Builder both have an extra lounge between the diner and the sleeping cars, available to sleeper passengers only.

Take look here, http://www.jkchubbes.com/Other.htm , and click on the link that says Superliner consists.
