Amtrak to receive award from Transportation Security Administration
Amtrak getting this award is a sign that railfanning Amtrak is going to be a persuit that “they” do not approve of. I know they have a co-operative arrangement with fans, but the TSA has no friends and views everyone as a possible terrorist. So, with or, without Amtrak’s Security watch card, the TSA reserves the right to hassle you for no reason anytime you are on or near Amtrak facilities or rights of way.
Has the TSA ever considered taking a seroius bomb threat to our bridges, tunnels, or major interchanges onoour highway system? I dare them to consider looking for a bomb and closing off the traffic during the heart of rush hour even once! They haven’t got the guts to do it because of the all the complaints they will get from motorists. By the way, don’t forget, it was the car bomb in IED’s that was most effective in mortality rates to our soldiers during the wars in Iraq and Afganistan.
One bloated goverment agency patting another bloated goverment agency on the back. There completely shameless are they not? It’s time goverment gets out of the way and turn Amtrak over to someone who knows how to run a railroad.
Amtrak bloated? Really? How silly is that? Amtrak is equivlaent to pocket change as far as the overall federal budget is concerned. Oh, The regime refuses to issue a budget, then they’d have to reveal their socialist agenda. So, Amtrak is a minor, minor element of the overall mess that is the government.
Unfortunatly, I have to agree with Peter M Benham about Amtrak getting this award from the TSA. Because of this, I no longer do any railfanning. I’m too afraid to do this because of being harrassed by the TSA. We could be the extra eyes and ears for the TSA. It’s interesting to see that freight trains are being tagged once again. What a shame.
