hmm, not sure if a clown face, a smile and the tongue are quite appropriate in a case like this. Whenever I see or read that someone has been killed or passed away is a sad thing, better you used [:(] ?
This is terrible. I wonder what the reason was for the dumb truck to be on the tracks at the moment the train was comming through. I’m guessing it was the driver’s human error. Thats a shame and if the driver was at fault guess what his passenger paid for his terrible mistake. I also wonder how fast the train was going at around 90?? Maybe from the looks of the aftermath. Well God bless thier families.
According to eye witnesses the lights were flashing, the gates were down, and the truck was speeding.
The conductor was trapped in the wreckage and had to be cut out. No word on his condition yet.

The Raleigh News & Observer said it was the conductor, but it looks like the engineer was taken to the hospital.
They also reported that eye witnesses said the gates were down, implying that the truck ran through the gates. The pictures show the gates to be intact, so unless the driver swerved around them, that piece of information is incorrect as well.

The witnesses now say that the truck driver tried to swerve around the gates and didn’t make it.

Gates down, lights flashing, engineer blowing the horn and still people won’t stop. It’s sad, especially since this never needed to happen. My heart goes out to the victms families.

Ya know I have to say this. When it comes to grade crossings some people must go into stupid mode. Why in the heck would you take a dump truck of all vehicles, which can’t move as fast as a car I might add, though a car shouldn’t be doing this either, and attemp to move over gates that are down??// Hay if your runing late or want to play games it’s not worth your life. If I were the passenger in that guy’s truck I would of said Hay your going to let me out, right now, or not go over the tracks. Take your pick.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family and friends. Whenever you go around the gates, the train will always win.
Can so one answer a simple question for me… What motivates people to drive around a lowered gate when there are bright red lights flashing?
