Amtrak, TRAINS to reveal the secret lives of locomotives

I live near Birmingham, Alabama. Am I ever likely to see these units in action?

Sounds like a really interesting idea & article. Can’t wait to read it & the rest of the issue too.

Looking forward

Fascinating idea… Can’t wait to read it.

Mr. Booth, if you live along a route that Amtrak uses then you are able to see almost any piece of equipment whip by as long as its type is used in that region. I live near Dallas/Fort Worth and have seen everything from a P32-8WH to two of the heritage P42s, not to mention the 40th Exhibit Train.

That is awesome. Im looking forward to this issue. Great idea.

Obama train makes this special, how? Why? …must be election year…

LONG OVER DUE. LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. GREAT IDEA .
IT WILL BE A GREAT STORY.

Can t wait. Every Summer I am overin the States seem to see 44 somewhere!

I believe #66 is currently on Amtrak Train #5.

Sounds like a great idea.
I can’t wait to read it.

great start, lets try to line up 3 freight diesels,GE EMD, maybe a upgraded older unit

This is going to be a great issue. I can’t wait to see the three Amtrak diesels to provide information for me to know where they go after one trip or the same trip twice.
I’m a Amtrak fan.

Another great article, coming soon to your mailbox.

I spotted Amtrak # 90 in Matrtinez, Ca on January 21, 2012 at the Amtrak Station on the California Zephyr.

Great idea. Would like to see same form of article for ,let us say, a CN freight engine in Eastern and Western Canada.
Look forward to this special issue next fall.
Keep up your good ideas for articles and overall excellent magazine.
Thank you

As a subscriber for over 50 years, There have been untold numbers of great issues and this one is certain to be one of the best yet.

I’ve always wondered what happens to Amtrak’s locomotives over the course of a year. Maybe our congressional representatives ought to take note too and truthfully see how far Amtrak is stretching taxpayer dollars to get the most of every dollar spent.
