Hi,

until when was in use the budd visitor cars in Amtrak paint ( like the ones from walthers) and were they plated/crome finish?

That said, it’s my opinion that that model could run from 1979 until about 1995. 1979 was when that paint scheme was introduced. They probably were not all painted right away.

The cars in this paint scheme were numbered in the 9400-9411 series. They were dome cars that were originally on the Empire Builder and the North Coast Limited. As such, they didn’t look EXACTLY like the model. In particular, there were no corrugations below the windows. On the plus side, the cars were painted in aluminum–very similar to what I think the model is painted.

While these cars are not exact, they are pretty good for off the shelf.
