So what do you guys thing will be the public reaction to Amtrak’s new advertisements considering the political volatility of supporting the gay rights movement?
Advertise to markets. Simple rule of advertising. If it brings more passengers, then it worked. If the target audience doesn’t respond then it didn’t work or wasn’t as lucrative a market as percieved.
As an aside, advertising and marketing should be the topic here, and not political or religious or other philosphic meanderings. I hope it can stay with advertisng for passengers and not something elese.
Agreed. Who says it’s not two sisters traveling with the daughter of one of them, or two brothers, etc.? I do not mean to be disingenuous – I think I know what the “pride” angle is getting at. But a lot depends on where the ads ran. If they ran in gay publications, they’re hardly in anybody’s face. If they ran mainstream … why, Amtrak will have to take its chances with blowback like anybody else.
