What ever happend to Amtrak’s other high speed trains like the Swedish X2000
or the German ICE they were testing?
Those were not Amtrak’s equipment, they just had them here for evaluation and sent them back when the decision was taken to reinvent the wheel and design their own high speed train.

Amtrak had old equment that could go 150 m.p.h. like the Budd 12,000V A.C. 25Hz Electric Multiple Unit why not use thoes?
