On a related note… do you know why all the railroad pics on the UP company calendar are so crisp and in-focus? Cuz the trains sure aren’t moving too fast! [;)]
Not a joke. UP publicity folks require the train to be stopped prior to photo setup. Since this can take hours, it is amazing that the operating folks permit it 12 times a year!
An old CNW unit ? Two between 1993 and 1994 built Dash 9´s in the last CNW paint scheme are old?
Courious are the E-units because the UP not use this heritage fleet engines in freight trains. Because inside the 3 VMV rebuilt E9´s are GP38-2. - The trucks have one idler axle in the middle.
The DD40 can be seen some times a year in such services.
Are you refering to the calendar photos? Last I knew, the photos used were submitted by employees and the public, then the best were chosen by somebody in John Bromley’s department. The only reason I know this is that a few years ago (if I may “toot my own horn”) John published two of my photos in the UP calendar.
That’s an awesome consist! That DDA40X is super cool! But those E8s are kind of strange, UP uses it’s FEF-3 and Challenger in freight, but I didn’t think they used their Es, that’s neat. Those old CNWs are sight, too.
