I’ve been a model railroad collector for 20 years, finally i’ve just finished my 1st attempt to build 2 Dioramas one for N Scale and the other one in HO Scale. Before i did them i discovered and found many interesting knowledgs from Model Railroader Magazine and in this Forums.
Now i’m crazy about American trains, i wish that i could come to America to see the real things. Fortunately, there are few train’s Shops in thailand and they have some American Model RR.
My 1st collections when i was young were all European Model Trains and next is only and only Americans.
I just wanna share these pictures to friends out there that there is an avid thai people in model railroader.
Excellent work!!! I love that picture of the double cross over track. I think your the first person from Thailand I’ve seen here. Do you know what YouTube is? You can find videos of model and real railroads to get ideas.
My prototype is closer to Thai practice than to US practice - in fact, a good many Japanese locomotives were re-gauged (narrowed from 1067mm to 1 meter) and shipped to Thailand during the Pacific War.
I can appreciate how difficult it is trying to model something you’ve never seen except in photos and videos. Feel free to ask about anything - several people here are sure to have answers.
Very nice photos - and that’s some excellent groundcover work you have done there. If you ever do come to the U.S. be sure to arrange some layout tours with some of the nice folks on this board
First of all, i would like to say thank you very much for your warm welcome to this forum, it’s really my first time. And thank you for your compliment, morale as well.
Yes, some pictures were taken outdoors to give natural look, speacially in the morning from 6-9 o’ clock ,not more than that because of the weather in Thailand is very hot and too much humidity.
And some were put nearby the window, the rest were under the neon light at night.
The actual size of its diorama is about 2’ x 4’. It’s small, easy to move. both N and HO scale.
And Thank you to everybody once again and Tomikawa san for your info, the locomotives in Thailand’s history.
Well, I have special friends from Japan, few months ago they gave me a Shinkanzen train set, they are 8 altogether.
WOW! Looks great! Especially love the grass detail between the tracks.
Where in Thailand are you?
I think modelers who have layouts based in another country are especially challenging since you don’t have the luxury of referencing the prototype as easily.
Very nice work, particularly for someone who has never seen the real thing and only has images from which to work. I really like the Pennsy shots on the grade, and the way you’ve stained your rails and ballast is impressive (looks like you may have followed Joe Fugate’s tutorial). Nice scenery too! [8D][tup]
I hope you get to see the prototypes in person someday soon. [#welcome]
