I would like to make an apology to all individuals on this board. I did not mean to upset anyone with my thread on “Bashing Atlas Turnouts.” I did not expect the word, “bash” to cause so much trouble that my thread was locked.
I was just concerned that people look down on Atlas turnouts because they perceive them as not protypical and/or toylike. I was starting a new layout and trying to find some affirmation about these turnouts so that I could have a good opening experience in the hobby. That was all that I was intending to get a grasp upon.
I am so sorry for any inconvenience or disservice that I caused anyone or anybody.
wcu boy,
The censorship on these forums has gotten to the point of REDICULOUS, I didn’t find anything offensive in your post, and I rather doubt many(if indeed any) did. Anything to do with “BASH” or “BASHING” (watch out all you “Kit Bashers”) seems to be the new hot button, it doesn’t take any name calling or rude comments any more just use the term “BASH” and it is LOCKED or DELETED. I Hope that I am fast enough on the keyboard to beat the lock on this thread[V].

OH and BTW, when I was young, I used lots of Atlas Snap Switches, and I was very Happy with them, they worked Great for me, and were AFFORDABLE for a young person with limited resources for the hobby. I used those and LOTS of Athearn BLUE BOX locomotives and cars, which were also very dependable and reasonably priced, but often commented on less than Favorably now by some.
While now days, I am still a member in an HO club, I have left the DARK SIDE of the little trains, and am much more active in 3-Rail O-Gauge[swg].
But what do I Know, my Favorite Trains run on 3 Rails,
Doug
I have several atlas turnouts on my layout. No problems at all. Yes, they don’t look as good as a micro-engineering turnout, but the price and reliability are great.
I just read the thread, and I saw nothing to be offensive to any forum member at all.
Wcu Boy, I can’t understand why the post was locked. There seems to be hidden politics on this forum as some useless posts go on & on while others get shut down at once. As for the atlas to’s , I can’t imagine model railroading without Their products. There’s nothing wrong with the To’s. R…
You were just looking for info on atlas turnouts-isn’t that what this forum is about? Other products are discussed at lengh about their problems and nothing is done.
Your opinion is as valuable as anyone else’s and there are some here who feel differently or maybe just have their shorts pulled up way too to tight if you get what I mean. As long as you adhere to the board rules which it sounds to me like you did you don’t need to give a toot what anyone else thinks.
As mentioned the censorship has gotten way out of hand. Because one or two people interpret a posting as a bash they get themselves all riled up. I personally have far better things to do, like play with my trains.
It doesn’t matter weather you buy a $2500 Brass locomotive or a piece of flex track if you feel you got ripped off or are disappointed with your purchase and or over all experience it’s you RIGHT as a consumer to bash if you will that product or place of business. Maybe the nice police will get their feather ruffled but too bad.
Thats one of the purposes of this board to get things out and off your chest and maybe get soem good honest feedback from members.
WCU and others, discussing, and not bashing, is what we want and encourage on the forum. Once a bashing thread gets locked, introducing another with “bashing” in the title just seems to be spoiling for an argument…all over again.
If you would like to discuss the pros and cons of Atlas turnouts (of several types) please feel free.
But let’s give the bashing discussions, and discussions about bashing a rest.
