Hi. I’m trying to wire a pair of crossing gates to a pair of infrared controllers and the manual calls for a 12 volt DC relay which is double pole double throw and has a 1A contact rating. The closest thing I can find at Radio Shack is a 12V DC DPDT relay but which is 3 amps. Can this 3A relay be substituted for the 1A? Thanks for your input.
You can substitute in the higher rated relay with no problem.

You can always go higher, never go lower! I go higher just to be on the safe side, except for fuses
