Yesterday I saw something in the Cranbrook railyards for the first time. It was an Iowa, Chicago & Eastern engine - # 6446 - between 2 Canadian Pacific ones. It was freshly painted. Does anyone know anything about this rail company?

We’ll start here: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=161930 IC&E 6446
Ans here as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa,_Chicago_and_Eastern_Railroad IC&E from Wikipedia
From the above linked site : “…It has been controlled by the Canadian Pacific Railway and operated as a part of its system since October 30, 2008…”
Thanks for the information. Just looked the websites you suggest, great stuff. [Y]
SD40 or SD45 hand me down?
The 6446 pictured above is an SD40-2.
IC&E and DM&E mostly consist of ex-SOO and MILW lines, and these railways have been owned by CP for a few years now, so their engines occasionally wander the rest of the CP system.
ICE 6446 is an SD40-2; ex UP 3930, nee MP 6030
I scene one too, in Moose Jaw rail facilty being worked on.
Hey tatans, is Canadian Pacific still sending trains up to Tuxford and Outlook? When I used to live in Saskatoon, I used to visit Moose Jaw and Weyburn about twice a year. It was incredible how many trains that went through both towns.[dinner]
Tuxford has some grain cars as does Marquis, Eyebrow(big new elevator), Tugaske(lots of cars), Elbow, Loreburn(another big elevator) Strongfield( a massive pile of ties and fishplates, Don’t know about the line from here to Outlook, mavbe someone from the area may know. I think the 3000’ trestle at Outlook is now a biking/hiking trail.
It is. The CPR stopped using the bridge in 1987 and it became part of the Trans-Canada Trail in 2003.
Here is a link to several pretty photos in Wikipedia:

A friend & I canoed from Outlook back to Saskatoon on the May long weekend in 1992. The bridge at Outlook wasn’t used for rail service then, I believe it was shut down as the bridge couldn’t handle the new grain hoppers. I don’t know where the other end of this rail line is but at Rosetown and Kerrobert it looked as it the line wasn’t used very much as the rails looked pretty rusted over. But I’m glad the bridge at Outlook is still around & used for good purposes.
