I really like the micro-brushes – those tiny Q-tip like swabs that are so useful for applying small amounts of paint, lubricant, weathering powder, or cement in a highly control-able way.
Recently I found a similar product from Tamiya - called a Craft Cotton Swab, triangular extra small , item 87105-280. It is like the usual micro-brush but has a pointed tip, and thus offers even more control and the ability to apply really small amounts of material. For all I know the product has been around for years but it is new to me. I found it at a Hobby Lobby, and I know some guys on these forums love to blast Hobby Lobby for giving up on model trains, but there is still plenty of interest for the modeler to be found there. There just isn’t a train department to find it in.
You can find a picture of it readily enough by using Google Images. Evidently Tamiya offers these small swabs with a variety of tip shapes and sizes. But the triangular/pointed tip version seems particularly useful to me.
