An Open Letter to UPRR Engineer

Dear UPRR Engineer:

Many have expressed appreciation for the topic: Cajon Pass Triple-Tracking Updates (Plus Barstow Daggett).

Some have rated it high, but you rated it low. Somehow I think it was the post about aliens that turned you off. If that upset you (and anyone else), I apologize.

But, I was trying to give inspired first time visitors a feel about Cajon Pass. Railfans have had to deal with non-railroad police acting weirdly, a great lookout being blocked with high mounds of dirt, etc., etc., plus what I consider strange actions of some people. The cause of some of this has been featured in local papers. But, in other aspects, it took me a long time to catch on.

I thought long and hard of the matter before posting on it. I concluded that I would appreciate a subtle forewarning and not to be caught off guard or baffled. So, I posted on it. I would be curious if others saw it as enlightenment about a fantastic railroad area that happens to have a dark side, or were offended.

Anyway, best wishes, take care, and enjoy the forum.

Thanks.

K.P.
