And now for something a

little different…

Anyone remember when these were common?

Just out of Houston Fuel and Oil, on the way to BNSF New South Yard.

Ed

nice catch.we saw some fuel tank cars in rochelle for bnsf while we were with carl.

stay safe

Joe

Aren’t those the same ones/type that ran between units, or right behind?

(as fuel tenders)

But (although I have seen fuel tenders at Rochelle a time or two) most of the tank cars that come to Rochelle are plain black fuel-transporting tanks–quite a few have the new “swoosh” logo.

Are the fuel tenders used as such any more, providing fuel to locomotives on the road? Are they equipped for that any more? A lot of those pipes running the length of the car aren’t typical on ordinary tank cars.

I assume they are, the panel with the instructions on hooking them up is freshly painted, and the hoses at the end had fairly new fittings.

Ed,

I started to model these at one time, cant remember now why I didnt…I thot they had been returned to regular use after that experiment…

Thank for reminding us…
