Would somebody please fire the person that decided to put that annoying orange pop up that shows up every time I change threads.
What browser are you using? I use Firefox and simply block out annoying ads (actually any ads) with Ad Blocker. Works like a charm.
Yeah, it must be your own settings. I got a pop up first thing this afternoon, X-ed it out via the corner ‘close’ function in the pop-up, and haven’t seen it since.

Ditto,

I don’t even get that. Ads are blocked before they can think about popping up.
Me too.
I got it once (using Firefox). It has not appeared since. It was most definitely an MR generated pop-up - and one of those ones that float across your screen…
Maybe they took it down?
I signed in about five minuets ago and got the pop up ad. I use Firefox 3.0.14 and Ad Block 1.0.2.
I guess I will have to look and see if Mozilla has a newer Ad Block version.

Yes, saw it once, was annoyed, used the X to close, so far so good. Hope to never see it again! Using Firefox too.
Once for me, too, earlier this evening.
Pop-ups are about as much fun as derailments. Hopefully, the Kalmbach folks will recognize the importance of good track maintenance.
Seems to be dependant on the cookies. I always have Firefox clear All data when I close the browser. Go to trains.com and click on a model railroader forum and I get the pop up. Does not seem to happen with other forums in the site. though I did not try all the forums.

…and some can be as persistent. [:D]
I am running Firefox 3.0.14 as well but I have AdBlock Plus 1.1.1 and I have not seen this pop up yet.
Getting every time I do something. Less fun than cleaning wheels.

I’m getting the flashy thing too, but I don’t believe that it has anything to do with either the browser or the cookie settings. I’ve not changed my browser or any of the settings, and I was not getting the flashy thing before today. Plus this particular pop-up does not stay up when it pops. It just flashes and goes away without there being any time to even read what it says.
Hmmmmmm, flashy thing. Maybe it’s the men in black.
Seems you and I are doing something right.
Using Safari, no problem here.
Thanks for the info, Pathfinder. I just installed AdBlock Plus on my Firefox and things are much better!
I have not seen this ad yet so-----my adblocker was on top of it
Still there! [:(!] Pop Up Blocker is on, running Explore 7 and just cranked up Zone Alarm a notch. Gyess it time to change to Fire Fox.
