Is it true that the city of Kenosha, WI, overhauled an old PCC streetcar and that it is now running a circuit between the Metra RR station and downtown?
Sounds like a GAS[:p], especially being so close to the lakefront.

Not a dumba** question at all! Yes, they’ve got a track that they built in the development that used to be a Simmons mattress factory and AMC/Chrysler factory on the lakefront. And not only have they overhauled one old PCC, they actually have FOUR! [:D] I haven’t taken the opportunity to ride one yet, (I guess I’m waiting for the extension up the old TMERL on 7th Avenue) but I’ve taken at least one picture. I’d love to see Milwaukee have somthing like this, but I’ll turn blue long before anything’s done if I hold my breath, even though there’s a great line being abandoned that runs RIGHT PAST the Zoo, State Fair Park, VA, Miller Park, and the Mitchell Park Domes, and I’m sure with a little creativity it could even be extended to Henry W. Maier Festival Park (aka Summerfest Grounds)!!! But I’ll be waiting for a long time for anything to happen, and it will likely be well established as a bike trail before anybody gets ideas to get things moving… [sigh]
