Can you see the track level from trackside or should I hire a F/B truck to get some height. Thanks for the info in advance
Mark, he previously had a post about Granger, Wyoming, which you answered.
Larry
In the town itself, yes the track and surrounding level are closr to the same level im not quite sure about further out. I noticed when i was there last(about a year ago(funny i live only 30 or so milesaway and have only been there twice ever)) I just have 1 question, Why is Granger a good place to watch? Are there any other secret places in this area that you know of?
Granger, WY sorry. To my interest it is a good place to be since it is the merge/unmerge point between the UPRR PNW & their San F & Lax lines. I would recommend Dagget CA where you can see EB & WB BNSF trains flying thru @ speed + UPRR leaving or joining the BNSF. Another of my favorites is Colton CA where the BNSF Cajon line crosses the UPRR Sunset route. You see UPRR trains on both routes as the UPRR holds trackage rights on the Cajon pass line. You will also see transfers to & from the UPRR Sunset line to the BNSF Cajon pass line. Another good place is Riverside CA where the tracks are at level ground so you can clearly see the track layout. Their you again see UPRR trains departing & coming onto the BNSF Cajon line & you see BNSF trains at speed in both directions.
Mini thank U 4 ur reply. I am only interested in the merge/unmerge point their which it appears you answered by saying they are at level ground. I just wanted to know if I first have to goto Green River to rent a flatbed truck so I would give myself more height to clearly see the track layout since I will be coming from north to south from the Grand Tetons to Granger WY. Do you have any pix you can post or send me of that merge/unmerge point on the RR?
I dont have any pictures of it, I didn’t even know there was a merge/unmerge point there. I am not sure that the point is level with the ground or not I just know that the mainline thrugh the town is.
miniwyo Thanks I just checked Mapquest & it shows that the merge/unmerge point is reachable from Rendezvous Rd on the South & Old Hwy 40 from the North.
I am enclosing the link
miniwyo Ooops should read old Hwy 30 from the North.
Granger, WY is located at the junction of the OSL (Pocatello Sub) and the UP (Salt Lake Sub). The local topography around Granger is relatively flat and wide-open. You shouldn’t have any problem finding the tracks after you turn off of the highway (US 30).
LostMTKid Thanks a lot for your input
