Another ? on Pic Publishing

I am having a problem linking pics. I use photobucket for storing pics and Firefox for my browser, If I cut and paste the direct link it works fine however the reader has to load the pic. If I use the img cut and paste when I go to post I get the OOPS error, When I hit the link button I simply paste the same img info in the URL box of the link box (I hope that makes sense). Should I use something different for the URL box to make it a hot link? LIke I said that is how I do the direct link and it works.

The img code is the right one. Right click on the img code and select copy.

When you post it here make sure you don’t accidentally add any spaces by moving the mouse while pasting. The only time I have any issues is when I do that.

I’ve not had any problem with the IMG copy and paste, but any more my pics are on my own web site so I manually make the img links by simply typing in [ i m g ] (without the spaces) and then pasting the URL of my image, and finalyl closing with [ / i m g ] (again without the spaces). I always find it best to know what is goign on rather than relying on some automated mechanism that may faila nd then leave you wondering. By knowing this, you can copy the part between the img tags on Photobucket and paste that here, and add the proper img and /img tags.

If it’s bombing out you may have a security setting too high that won;t allow you to cut and paste between browser sessions or tabs.

Terry, try posting a pic and ignore any errors. Quite often the incorrect code will display on the post, allowing us to see what’s going on.

When I place my cursor over a thumb in my pbucket gallery, I get a drop down menu appearing below the thumb. The bottom option is the img tag URL you want. Move the cursor down, right click and copy, close out, come here, place the cursor in a text box, right click, paste…and Peg should be yer aunt. Or, so it works for me.

Crandell, yes that is pretty much how I do it. The problem comes when I go to make it a hot link by hitting the little chain link. It asks for a URL and I simply paste the same img info in I used for the text box. All seems fine until I go to post. Oh and also if I preview before posting I get three copies of the pic. Other than two extra copies it seems to work but when I hit POST I get the oops msg. So I guess I am resigned to just posting the url and the reader can hit it to load the pic. At least that works. Tks for the help.

That’s what you’re doign wrong. You do not need to click the chain to make it a link, if it starts with [ i m g] and ends with [ / i m g ] that’s all you need to make a picture post.

Aahhhhhhh! Well let me give it a shot. I figured it was something simple. Tks Randy you are a cornacopia of knowledge.

I’m glad you and Randy figured it out, Terry. [:)] I hadn’t understood you were doing an additional step. That’s a nice looking diesel, Randy!!

I have been having the same issues to the point I quit posting photos in WPF. Let me try Randy’s suggestion.

Maybe now WPF will have more entries [:-^]

Yes, they are, but way too rich for my blood. Those are the new Proto F7’s - $329 for an AB set WITHOUT sound. Walthers is out of their minds. Both are powered, for a mere $479 you get an AB set with sound in each.

My best excuse is the grabs are wrong for my era, those were added later. My second excuse is that I already have 2 sets of Stewart FT’s plus a set of F3’s. My third excuse is that they didn’t really run on my branch, but that isn’t stopping me from running Geeps and RS3’s - the normal pwoer was an AS16, I have a couple of those too. Fourth excuse, apart from my T-1 with sound I haven’t paid more than $50 for a loco.
