sorry for all these question but im just learning. First of all is there any track cleaner that i can just put on the track and let the train spread it around.
Secondly if i want to create electrical components like traffic lights and and switch controlled points, what is the best way to do it bearing in mind the track is already laid?
thanks
Do a Google search for “model train track cleaning cars” (more than you could shake a stick at)
There are companies that have pre-made traffic lights and controllers. If you go to the Walthers web site and do a search you’ll find a bunch.
Google is your friend…
I would be averse to using something that spreads stuff around like a mop does. If I clean the track, my track, I clean it in small sections, and then only if/when there is apparently a need. That way, the rest of the track will get attention when it needs it, and not because my trains tracked crud all over it taking it from someplace else.
Track is best cleaned in small sections, first spread with a penetrant solvent or a metal cleaner (lightly of course), given a set time, and then wiped clean with gentle rubbing and turning a cloth or some such material, just as you would when removing polish from your car’s surfaces.
That’s just my own opinion…not that you asked, but…you know?
Yes there are several, but how well they work - if at all - is another question. Aztec, Centerline, CMX, Roco, IHC, Electrak by Miniatronics, etc. It is also easy to create your own by suspending a masonite pad below a box car.
Do you mean signals that control the train movements?
electrical turnout control?
