Why dont you try and make the topic a bit more exciting to have people want to read it. Thats why you have no responses because people know its a corny question and topic

You can use any type of copper wire. For short runs anything from 24 gauge to 18 gauge would be sufficient. Lots of times hardwares stores will sell 2 conductor “bell wire” which is very handy. If you are going longer distances 20-100 feet you will want heavier wire (16 to 12 gauge) to limit voltage drop.
For switches the Radio Shack stores sell multi-color wire that has 4-6 different colors fused into one strip. That is handy for switches.
From your questions I would imagine you are using snap switches or something like the Atlas powered switches and probably have a layout of 4x8 size or so. For that size layout the wire I’ve suggested is fine. If you have a basement sized empire then you need different wire because of the longer runs.
