Another Rockville Bridge-Bridgeview B@B photo essay...

Last weekend, I took an overnight trip back down to Keith Latimer’s Bridgeview B@B which is located adjacent to the NS Rockville Bridge at Marysville, Pa. I made a quick hike back up to my favorite Railroad overlook in the area as well as railfanning from track level. I have added 21 pics to my Flickr album from that trip…These pics are located at the top of the album. Link here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30144616@N04/?saved=1

…More nice photos Dave…What a vantage point…!

Thanks, Modelcar…Weather started out clear and cloudless that day, as early morning pics show…so I made a last minute decision to head up to the overlook that morning…However, instability cloudiness rapidly developed along with some blustery winds…It was a bit dicey up top there…Cloud shadows began to interfere with shooting, so I only spent a little over an hour at the overlook before heading back down to track level…By early afternoon, it had clouded over completely…

How did you get up to the overlook over the Rockville Bridge? Did you climb directly up to the overlook from US 322, or did you drive up Roberts Valley Road, and walk out to the overlook?

Drove up Roberts Valley Road, turned right onto another single car wide road that leads up to the TV transmitter towers…parked, hiked in past the tower, path narrows past the tower and follows powerlines, then narrows further to a footpath…If I hadn’t done it many times before, I would not have been able to follow it this time…ground was completely covered with fallen leaves making the trail blend in with everything else…I followed my usual landmarks…Some people have tried driving part way up Roberts Valley, parking along the road and then hiking up the hillside to get to the trail but that is not recommended as alot of that land belongs to an Archery Club, which will often chase people off…You have to drive all the way to the top and follow the trail mentioned earlier as the trail runs right along the spine or summit of the ridge with the private property boundaries along both hillsides below you…
