#1701 - Burgundy and tan - NRL? Driver is fairly sure he saw this on our BNSF tracks. I didn’t see it, so can’t verify the NRL part. I know WC was burgundy and tan - at least I think I do.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Mook

Could that have been MRL (Montana Rail Link)'s former WC SD45 1701?

Sure it wasn’t NLR? Northern Lines Railway L.L.C. (NLR) began operating 22 track miles near St. Cloud, Minn in 2005. NRL operates a five-mile line between the St. Cloud Yard and St. Joseph, Minn., and a 17-mile line between Rice Junction and Cold Spring, Minn. The lease transaction also includes related yard, industry and mainline trackage rights. NLR will provide switching service for customers located on the east side of BNSF’s mainline in St. Cloud and interchange with the Class I in the city. The lines’ shippers move paper, scrap metal, stone, lumber, building products and manufactured goods.

They have a few locomotives from various places that they just stick their reporting marks on without painting them. The lines are ex-BNSF, so they do connect.

Seems likely-
