Another store closing in Ohio

I knew that it would happen eventually but I didn’t think that it would be this soon. John & Betty’s Toys of Galena, Ohio is closing up on June 30. I was taken aback by the news, I’m sure you can see why: it was the closest (literally 5 minutes away) hobby shop near where we live. Just thought that people who know of the place would like to know.

PS- As far as I’m aware, they are having a sale. I haven’t had a chance to see what things are going for, but from the signs on the doors/windows it’s about 25-50% off on their stuff.

Thanks for the info. I have seen them at shows in our area. I have bought may items from them. They will be missed.

My guess it’s a sign of the times, Ohio has been plauged with job losses for some time, with that in mind folks there have less income set aside for hobbies.

BTW, I lived in Northern Ohio for 37 years, where is Galena Ohio???

To say that there have been job losses in Ohio in recent years would be like saying there was a storm in New Orleans in 2005. I’m glad I’m retired here in Ohio and not looking for a decent job.

Many of our best and brightest young people are leaving the state as fast as their feet can fly.

It’s north of Columbus

I’m very close to that shop too…

HEARD They are moving down SOUTH?[;)] NC?

Lenny, I hear ya…I have been a regular Dayton customer for tires for my 18 wheeler. Sad to say, most of the ones I now get say made in Brazil… Dayton themselves are now a part of Bridgestone-Firestone; a Japaneese based company… bummer…this does have a chain effect…

I like to support American Workers, and buy American products, but our manufacturing jobs seem to be getting one way tickets outta here…Ohio is not alone in these job losses, we are all getting nailed…bummer
