Another use for marking pens

I wanted to try using a marking pen on a wood kit. In the example below, the walls above the wainscot are colored with a Mahogany Red Prismacolor marking pen! Of course, the area below the wainscot and the other items are painted with traditional materials, but this at least shows another use of marking pens, other than on light colored resin brick.

Advantages to an alcohol based pen include the fact that the material, unlike water, will not contribute to the wood warping. Also, the ink is very transparent, and it will not hide all of the wood grain, giving a slightly faded look without having to do any additional weathering.

Remember to click the photo to see the hi-res version…

I like the ideas you’re showing! Where can you pick up a set of these markers?

very nicely done. its only fitting that the paint store is beautifully painted!

I think it looks pretty good! Can you get an even more close up shot?

You don’t have to buy a set - you can choose just the colors you want at http://www.dickblick.com/ Blick Art Supplies.

the owner of the paint store must have realized that the condition of his store was scaring off customers so he’s started repainting by doing the doors and trim first , they look like they were just painted [:)]
