Any Current Merger plans in 2005?

Hi, I have heard bits and peices of info about another merger thats brewing up, please respond if you know anything about this.

A columnist in the January 2005 issue of Railway Age magazine predicts a merger among the class 1s within the next 12 to 18 months. Not very specific on who it will be.

I’ve been hearing about a Norfolk Southern merger. At this point, I don’t know if it’s just a rumor or not.

UP sez they are doing a little better and going to put down some new track. Ergo, I would like to see the “horse” going down our BNSF tracks! Except I don’t want to see an Orange Horse!
