Any experience with European Trix sets?

Since I tried Trix US prototype offerings of Mikado and PA UP trains, I’m curious about their European prototypes. I’m all about passenger service and was looking into their passenger sets. Because they make mostly German models, I’m mainly interested in the pre WWII period. Their Rheingold and OrientExpress car sets caught my eye, but they are very very expensive. Anyone can chime in on why the pricing so high on these. Most importantly can anybody who owns these can comment on their quality and features?

Thanks.

Trainsbuddy,

Trix makes fine models, highly detailed and of high quality. No problem to pass them onto to your great-grandchildren. As they are made for the European market, their wheels do not follow NMRA RP25 and require a minimum of code 100 rail.

Why are they so expensive?

  • They are made in Germany, not China
  • European price level in general is much higher
  • Walthers is the importer [:-^]
