Any Experience with FOS Scale Models

I am going to ask again for experience with this company. They are expensiive.

Are they up to Fine Scale Minitures standards?

Do they have great detail parts?

They have some interesting stuff, but are twice the cost of Bar Mills. I could use some coments and experience.

Had not heard of them but think I may give them a try. Looks a lot like bar mills with a little more detail. I have never done FSM as I can never find a kit I want available. The ones I want are always sold out. Also looks like they have some of the Campbell style details in there although I am not fond of Campbell kits as I think there is better out there for the money.

Fos Scale makes quite a range of kits from inexpensive simple ones to some quite large structures. I have built some of them, and had the opportunity to attend some work shops run by Doug Foscale. I think that they are very well designed and interesting models. The top of the line expensive FOS kits are similar to FSM, but perhaps don’t have as many details. But most of the product line are much lower cost than FSM kits. I would have no qualms in ordering from them.

They have more detail parts than a lot of laser kits but less than FSM. I recently completed Foscale’s Elliot Clay Craft building. It had signage, two smoke stacks, a chimney, exterior lamps, a wall vent, as well as steel drum, wooden barrel, and pallet. All were well-cast with minimal flash. Windows and doors are finely cast (Grandtline?). The kit is well-engineered with parts fitting. It was a bit short of stripwood for reinforcing the walls, but I always have extra stripwood on hand. I just ordered three more of his kits even though I have two more in-hand yet to build.
