Were any Ford engines used in small RR equipment? The Ford 300 inline 6 has been used in a lot of industrial equipment: boat lifts, airplane tugs, pumps, generators, chippers and some other stuff.
Most likely track and MOW equipment, esp. the ‘home-built’ variety, though in my experience most of their gas engines are Chevy’s - and most engines are diesels anyway.
Here’s link to a “gang car” for sale that apparently has one - “Fairmont A8-C Gang Car, 4-wheel drive
Ford 300 C.I.D. gas engine”: http://www.newmanmachinery.com/inventory/A8-C-Peabody.html
Possibly some of the small “critter” locomotives such as the Stewartstown RR’s No. 6 “Little Mo”, which is stated to be a Plymouth ML-8, though I have no idea what it actually has for an engine: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=309790
