any good lead acid chargers out there?

I have several lead acid batts I use, the only charger I have for them is the cheap original charger that wont shut off after done charging. I have lost 2 batts this way (by forgetting to unplug them). Any recomendations for a charger for those batts???

I have 3 of the cheap SLA chargers from Maplins -they were about £10 each and made in China. They do the job of charging 6V 4.5Ah ‘bricks’ in about 90 minutes. They fast charge and then trickle / standby until disconnected. I have not had a problem with mine at all. Maybe yours was faulty? regards ralph

Good Morning RockModeler,

May I suggest using a TIMER that is used for turning lights “ON” and “OFF”. I think it would be much cheaper then buying a new charger. Good Luck, Ron

In the automotive section of Wal-mart you should be able to find a Schumacher SpeedCharge 6/12 Volt @ 2, 4, or 6 Amp charger that is relatively cheap and can be used for practically any type of lead acid battery. I use one of these chargers for my Gel-Cell 12 Volt Batteries.
