Any idea on what was going on the BNSF today

Today the Eastbound only poriton of the BNSF lines were plugged with traffic. Both the former BN linew out of Galesburg and the Santa Fe lines thourgh Streator were plugged with trains. I personally counted 15 trains sitting waiting both the westbound traffic waas running normally any answers would help.

Maintence? Track work? A Window? A Derailment?

I’ll agree with BNSF Railfan…I saw this once and it was because of a major derailment down south(im in colorado)

Ed,

It is actually more of a combination of things. Snow out east(if you noticed alot of the trains were coal-foreign interchange with NS and such)plus recent snow here(that’s when it really slowed down), plus a real bad shortage of crews for Galesburg and Aurora. Not enough crews to keep up with all the trains going dead. It’s the same on the Aurora Sub( to Savanna IL where we have been getting rerouted Galesburg stuff). Sidings packed all over.
