Has anyone heard how the fires out on the Texas Panhandle are effecting train operations?
Common sense would say if the fires are near the tracks then they would be affecting traffic. How do U C it? [:)]
The people stuggling with the first fire near Borger are Panhandle Northern RR(OmniTrax) and TNW…BNSF is well clear to the south and west.
The second fire, near McLean would have nailed the Rock Island Choctaw Route if it were still there.
You have small fires near Childress (BN/BNSF) and Miami (ATSF/BNSF Transon) going away from those railroads.
Until they get moisture, Texas will continue to burn.
BNSF in Tulsa started a grass fire while welding. All trains stopped while the fire was near the ROW. Ironically, there is a burn ban in most of Oklahoma due to extreme fire danger from the lack of rain. Oh ya, the fire was out of control for many hours near residential and commercial buildings.
