Evening All,
I’ve recovered a bit since the occurrences this morning/yesterday night, but I’m curious, after reading CSX at 40, do any railroads use Cab Signal equipment in the modern day?

I believe Norfolk Southern still does especially over the former Pennsylvania Railroad portions of their line.
Seems unlikely, as PTC renders those types of older systems redundant or obsolete. But perhaps a few isolated operations remain that are exempt from PTC that retain their cab signals.
I believe that the MBTA in Boston uses them. They’re a pretty silent operation and usually operate on signals.
On second thought, Subways could also very likely use Cab Signals due to being in tunnels.
EDIT: Checked, They aren’t exempt from PTC.
Looks like some shortlines are exempt. they could very likely use them. Looks like an excuse for me to head up to Palmer for some NECR Action!
I thought ACSES and ACSES II used PTC as an overlay on a cab-signal system.
Yeah, still a lot of cab signal systems in the northeast. Ptc overlays them.
