any northern/northeastern ohioans?

Though, I feel alone in this hobby at times, I know there has to be some people iin my area who share the same model railroading and railfanning as I do? Im located in Amherst Twp…not far from the busy chicago line tracks…infact I hear a NS now!

medina here

I live in Columbus. Tom Stage lives up around your area.

Ah, i am laid off from the mcso and i used to live near canal winchester/whitehall so i have something in common with you both…

Quiet,

I live up here near the North shore - east side of Cleveland. In fact, I hear Collinwood every night lying in bed.

Tom

Hiram here. Actually I was wondering the same thing about Ohioans. I’d wouldn’t mind checking out smoeones layout sometime. There’s a few railfans in my area but not really any mrrs.

Greetings from Olmsted Township, the locale of planes & trains. One of these days I swear I’ll unpack the boxes in the basemant and build a layout.

Sagamore Hills Township here right by the NS (PRR).

Now a desert dweller but previously, Rocky River, Valley City to the east, and Troy on the western side of the state. Boy, do I miss the convenience of living close to the never ending train parade in Berea.

I was born in Brooklyn just outside of Cleveland and moved to Columbus when I was about 10. Now stuck here in Southern Middle Tn. Lot more train people up your way than down here.[:(]

Perry, Ohio - almost screaming distance from CSX (old NYC Lakeshore route) and NS old NKP, and not too far from what used to be the B&O south out of Fairport.

No layout yet but finally building my 150+ kits.

Lima here, not northeastern, but Ohio non the less.

Springfield, Ohio here… On I-70 between Dayton and Columbus… There’s railfans, and a few mrr’s, LOTS of DT&I fans, C&O modelers, a few like me who are very interested in the city’s rich railroading history as a major hub for C.C.C. & StL. and New York Central after 1905. Not to mention Springfield Electric Lines…

I’m not north or east but I felt compelled to say hello…

Out here in Aurora near the train station

hi not exactly northern oh but west central i live around dayton where ns and csx romp around here, about 21 trains a day untill gm’s truck plant closed up then shunk about to12 i think .

Hello I live in Twinsburg the W&LE wake’s me up at 5:30 am 2-4 times a week we live by a crossing. And most of the time I take lunch break and watch NS trains in Macedonia

Frank,

When we first met at the Berea show, I thought you told me you lived in Elyria…or the westside of Cleveland somewhere. Did I have wax buildup in my ears that day? LOL!

Tom

SO two questions for my fellow Ohioans…

Local Hobby Shops: Im looking for a good LHS since the two I used closed up, one moved towards strongsville from avon so ill have to find him i guess. I model N scale, around me everything is O scale. I am looking for a place that has good Customer Service and Price. Now I go to Hobby’s ETC. in North Olmstead.

Railfanning Sites: Im looking for good railfanning places to take pics at, or even just enjoy the trains. I go up to amherst and watch the NS at the Rail station Nord owns, I used to go to Amtrak Station in Elyria and watch for the NS, CR, and Amtrak. Im just not sure on all the new railroad laws after 9-11. I recently worked in law enforcement b4 my lay-off, but i really dont want any run ins with fellow LEO’s. Trying to keep my record clean to hopefully get back into law enforcement.

Thanks for any help!

well, it’s not local to you per se… but Depot Trains on W. 130 is pretty solid in their Nothing Scale offerings [;)]

they’re usually out at teh Berea train show in October… and Jim really knows his stuff.

As far as railfanning places, Berea has a couple of nice spots, and there’s the rail yard just off of 480 & 71… don’t know if they’ll let you railfan there though – maybe someole’s been there and would know…
