Any train stores in the Philly metro-city area that are worth to see (and spend)? Particularly near a “SEPTA” station?
Thanks again everyone. In my line of work, I travel to many cities across the USA and make use of the opportunity [:)]

Hey now, if you want trains and you are going to be near Philly, you MUST go to Nicholas Smith Trains in Broomall, PA (just outside of the City). If you go to www.nstrains.com you can get store hours, phone number, and maybe even directions. Call them and ask how to get their by public transit, although I can not promise that one can get their that way. But they are one of the oldest, probably one of the 3 oldest existing Lionel train dealers in the United States. They’ve got it. (Whatever you were going to look for, they’ve got it.) It is on the second floor of a building that also houses a speed shop (real auto racing ?) and a toy store on the first floor. The toy store has their K-Line collection, and it seems like that is run as a different store, but it is all Nicholas Smith. LOTS of great stuff to see there.
Someone told me there is a good hobby shop with trains and planes in Old City, maybe on Market Street, and if I recall correctly, it is somewhere around 2nd and Market, 3rd and Market, something like that. Maybe even 4th and Market. I can’t recall the name, and I don’t know if they have “O” gauge, but someone said it is a good store…
toy train station is “just ok” AND IS right outside of the far northeast Philadelphia in Feasterville… its on “street rod”
I’m retired, live very near a SEPTA train station, and can drive you to Nicholas Smith in 15 minutes. Email me when you want to set something up. Joe Hohmann, Media, PA.
Hennings Scale Models and Lins Junction are a couple blocks from the Lansdale station on SEPTA. I visited this shop for the first time last weekend - very nice selection, good prices, nice staff. They have a web site, but I can’t recall the specific URL.
