Hi I’m a UK modeller who models US railroads.
Just wondered if anyone in the US models UK railroads, and if you do how easy is it to get loco’s etc and what quality are they compared to US models.

There was a very similar thread to this last month. Here is a link to it. The bottom line is that there are very few.

Thanks Simon,
Must have missed this thread.
I guess most people like me prefer the US loco’s as they are better and cheaper than the British stuff.

I had read that some of the new Hornby stuff was alot better detailed. Is it true that the newer stuff is more comparable in quality to the US prototype stuff we get over here? I suspect it is all made in the same factory in China, so there is no reason why it could not. OO being a litttle bigger, it should be better detailed?
I have a Bachmann 00 Class 158 two unit DMU in Scotrail livery. The irony is it is the US company Bachmann although I bought it in Scotland. (Kyle of Lochalsh) I also have a N gage HST 125 in BR livery and I thin it is Hornby, it hasn’t been out of the case for a long time but I have extra cars making it a full HST trainset.
I operate the DMU on the club layout, rationalizing it as “over here as a demonstrator.” The HST operates on the same basis on the home layout which has been dismantled for several years.
So I’m a partial UK modeler.
