Are there any railroads detouring trains because of the heavy rains and storms in Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Illinois the last few days? I live in Peru, IL, and heard a couple of trains this morning on the old RI line, and I’ve never heard more than one train on any particular morning. Just wondering if anybody knows.
Thanks!
I don’t know about detours, but did hear that there was a tornado-caused derailment on UP’s Marysville Subdivision in Nebraska, south of Hastings. The 3985 was held in North Platte an extra day (instead of being displayed at Marysville) because of this.
I figured they would do that, bacause the area of today’s route was in the hardest hit area of Nebraska.
if anyone knows of anything going on on the old RI, i wouldn’t mind going down to see it. a quick ride on a couple of backroads and i’m there on my 4-wheeler
Just look at the weather channel again. Looks like detours might have to go over the Panama RR to avoid bas weather.
Everybody in Nebraska OK?

The Railroads must press on reagards of Rain nor Sleet nor Snow.
Unlike Canada Post. [:)]
I’d like to see a twister try to flip the challenger over…hmmm.

Don’t hmmmm too much. The F4-F5 Jarrell TX tornado several years ago, as it was petering out over Cedar Park TX (and a lot less than even an F4), took out the 26 ton tender on the T&NO 786 and flipped it over.
Be careful what you wish for—you might get it.
A train in Hallam, Nebraska was derailed by a tornado. It looks like the tornado was either F-3 or F-4 (Basically F-3 is strong and F-4 is destructive). So far everything in Omaha is okay. Had a tornado north of town and tornadoes south of town. I am worried though, because we are under a high risk of severe weather for this afternoon. Tornadoes a good bet.

Willy - heard it was finally classified as an F4. You had some more bad weather north of you last nite (Mon) and we had some more south of us - the same area as Sat nite. But - the sun will shine the rest of the week and no more nasty weather - it is now off to the east of us - for the rest of the forum to deal with!

I SUGGEST WE ALL REMEMBER THAT OLD SAYING “DON’T MESS WITH MOTHER NATURE”!
To just see a tornado would be enough for me! It can leave the trains alone!
