Anybody in the area of the PA crash

See they dumped one in the river. Near anybody? If so are all in the area OK? Said around Beaver Falls Pa?

Go to CNN online and the train wreck is one of their lead stories today.

Thank you but I was more woried about the forum people. I know a few are from the Pa region.

Hi,

I have not heard of any injuries, but authorities did evacuate some folks from their homes because they were concerned about possible explosions. Some residents, but not all, have now been allowed to return home. The cars that are on fire apparently pose little danger to anyone, and thus the decision to let them burn themselves out. I believe even the crew was unharmed as it was reported the derailment was about thirty cars behind them. So everyone is safe as far as I know.

Ethanol = grain alcohol = torpedo fuel = 200 proof vodka. Anything drinking out of that river downstream of the crash just might end up with a bit of a buzz!

The really good news is, it’s totally biodegradable.

I, for one, am a bit suspicious - thousands of trains are derailing

who is watching don’t we need more cameras

homeland accidents are to common

stop children whats that sound everyone look around see whats going down

we need more speeders checking out the rail

I live about two miles away. Although we hear trains blowing their horns at crossings all the time and on a good night hear every axle as it crosses the CSX (ex-P&LE) bridge over the Ohio, I didn’t hear the wreck Friday night. I watched the scene from about 1 AM to 3 AM from a cliff across the river from the wreck, maybe a half mile away. You could read a newspaper by the light.

Fortunately no one was hurt and the only damage to the surroundings appears to be melted siding on a house about 200 ft from the fire. Amazingly NS says that one track on the bridge will reopen tomorrow. The structure has been baking for about two days and all track, ties and ballast have been swept off down to the bridge decking. The adjacent highway bridge has reopened so I was just planning on driving down there to see what’s up. The road bridge’s sidewalk is on the RR bridge side, so it should be a great spot for MoW fans in the next couple of days.

Ken, can not argue with your point. If some idiot gets a wild hair we can be in deep S%^&.
