Greeting all, I’m new to the forum but no to model railroad. I recent be collecting passenger trains (My favorite) and almost done. August will be my final when I complete the hiawatha series. But I have no benchwork (cry) I still have my last one but silly me left it outside and the cover I had over it still got beat down by the weather (rain) so I was thinking should I start over or try to salvage what I have. But does anyone know a few place/sites/designers were I got get a good layout to run long trains at a reasonable price?
[#welcome] to the Forum! Help us to help you…where are you located? Are you looking for a turnkey layout or someone to build your benchwork and lay your track? How badly damaged is the old layout? Some photos might help the members here to decide if it is salvageable.
located in fontana, ca. I’m looking for someone to build it for me and lay the track down. I do have the pics of my other table and I’ll up load them when I get the opportunity
Umm, Phil, he only helps with designing your layout, nothing to do with building the benchwork or laying the track.
But, while these guys dont do building benchwork or laying track, they do make prefabricated benchwork sections (everything is cut and drilled, you just screw and bolt it together) that you may be interested in. http://www.sieversbenchwork.com/
Get the word out to local model railroaders or club that you are building a layout and need some assistance. Your LHS would be a good place to get the word out.
The going rate for the work is usually PIZZA and DRINKS following each work session.
I would suggest that your best bet to have the benchwork built for you would be check out a local cabinet shop, taking along one of the many model railroad magazines that deal with bench work that you prefer. I am making the assumption that you at least know the area you have available for your layout.
As far as laying the track, best bet is to check with the local model railroad club or check with your local LHS.
You guys are great! I did run across that shelf layout guy and it look like he has some reasonable priceing, I may check him out first. I not sure who said something about someone doing the work for Pizza and beer but if there are some builders sitting around waiting for that!!
I would give them all the Pizza and beer until they can’t move!
Thanks
