The Lionel AC6000CW’s in Lionels 2008 catalog looks pretty good. They ship in July, and are priced at $600, very reasonable for such a big engine! I think I’ll get them, a powered and dummy, but I’m not sure what dummy to get; the regualar unpowered or the “Super Bass”.
But anyway, they look pretty good. Nice paint scheme too… CSX [(-D]
I had my eye on them since my Dash-9 fell through. the bass dummy is really nice but $200 more than the empty dummy. I might get the empty dummy and fit it with 2 mega bass speakers as I did with a hopper I have for another train. the mega bass speakers are only about $8 a piece and sound better than any OEM speakers including the fat boy speakers. the lower bass frequencies definitely make a large difference in sound quality.
Think I’ll order a dozen. Just so I can spray them BLACK and put the stallion on the noses. [:-^][(-D]
Yeah…except NS doesn’t have any AC locomotives besides the SD80MAC’s. What would you number them? [:P]
These locomotives look great. If I were getting one, I’d probably also get the nonpowered “Super Bass”. I bet you could rattle everything on the walls with one of those!
Technically however, the “Roar” of the Super Bass may be incorrect in the upcomming years… GE is now replacing AC600CWs with new electronics and a replacing the old 7HDL 16 cylinders with newer 16 cylinder engines, thus making a ES60AC. However, neither are reclassifying them as such. 4 have currently overgone the change, those being # 606, 620, 628, & 640, with other units planned to be done in Waycross, GA.
The CSX super bass engine for Lionel is # 609.
