In addition to modeling the PRR as accurately as possible I have some modern engines for my own enjoyment as if the PRR still existed (E60CP, E60CF, AC4400, etc.). Anybody else out there who does this?
There have been several threads related to this on this recently. See:

I thought there was a thread on this specifically but can’t find it now. I know we have a modern day CNW, a NYC, and a Katy among us.
I still model Chessie, B&O and Western Maryland as if they still aren’t CSX. I like CSX too, but so far don’t have much CSX on my roster.

I model NS and Conrail both Pre and Post Conrail Breakup. I focus mostly on NS but I have a few Blue engines. I also have CSX too…but I like Conrail more than CSX so you get the picture. I’ve though about making my layout set in about 1995 and possible to be uped to the 2000s Becuase Its very hard to find NS D9-40CWs and Patched conrail power(I don’t have the heart to patch mine) Anyone that models ATSF or BN could also consider themselves a Modern Fallen flag. At least in my mind a Modern Fallen flag is anything that fell within the last 10-15 years.
Yep , I do the SP the same way. If any new and wonderful prototypes come out , I’ll paint them up SP.
I still have a thing for Santa Fe, especially my three 8-40 CW Dash units pulling a consist of coal hoppers… I’m also a Southern Pacific lover.

OF COURSE.
Just like Automobiles, trains have ‘evolved’ and been bankrupted, bought and sold.
It’s a ‘slice’ of life like yesterdays fashions, and shopping Malls.
PRR, NYC, B&O, C&O, AT&SF, NP, GN, SP, CP, WP. C&NW, CM&StP, KCM&O,and how about their predecessor RR’s? We could go on and on.
How many roads made up todays UP? SP, WP, SPLA&SL, MP, OR Nanigation, DP, TP, KMT, +, +. How about Sacramento Northern?
The Pennsy still lives - even if on peoples layouts. Who else had GG-1’s? or the ‘Broadway Limited’?
You got two of the three right. I model SOUTHERN modern day; my friend models NYC modern day.

I modeled the MKT (Katy) two layouts back. My current layout will also include the MKT.
Thats right, I’ve only seen him post on that “other” forum. But you posted the pictures of his locos here. Do you have the URL for that thread? We could add it to this one for reference.
But there is a huge difference between modeling the Pennsy with its era appropriate GG-1s et. al., and modeling a “modern era” Pennsy where all the GG-1s have gone to museums and have been replaced by AC6000’s and SD70es.
Let me find those real quick…
You mean this right??

Yeah, that’s the one.
Those are very nice NYC SD70MACs.
I hope to do a modern day PRR, and maybe a B & O or WM. Closest thing I have to this right now is my sole PRR DD40AX…Not exactly very modern, but circa 1969.
Of course, my own roadname will come first, however.
I model and run SP and ATSF, they are my favorites.
Im actually planning my next railroad for when i move to be modern PRR as my main prototype
