This layout is free to anyone in the Dallas, TX area who wants to come a carry it away.
But first, a few facts you ought to know:
They layout is based on the Atlas plan HO-23 “Folded Dog-Bone With Branch” from HO Layouts For Every Space
5’ x 8’ with an extension for an Atlas Roundhouse
Plywood and 2x4 construction
The upper loop of the dog bone (the elevated part on the hill) is not included
The rest of the layout has been sawn in half length-wise to facilitate moving (but can be rejoined)
The turntable and roundhouse are included; no other buildings are, though
Track is Atlas Code 100
Wired for common rail DC
Roundhouse is wired for interior illumination
No control panel, locos or rolling stock
There is probably over $1000 in track, turnouts, switch machines, wiring, roundhouse and turntable
Strictly as-is , serious inquiries only please
This is an old layout I built w/my boys. I was originally going to incorporate elements of this layout into my new layout but my plans have changed. (Well, I am still using the town intersection bit.)
Mmmmm, that is a layout I’ve long wanted to build. The plan originally was first published in the April 1957 issue of Model Railroader. My Atlas version, in Custom Line Layouts for HO Scale Railroads, of the plan has a turntable included!
I am certain that cut in half it would easily fit in my Excursion; however, I am not willing to come to Dallas to get it. [;)] Would probably cost about $400 in fuel.
I am very interested I live in Dallas, TX, I need to talk to my brother in law to see if I can borrow his pick up. I could pick it up on Sunday, I have to work Saturday. Thanks
