Many people do here. That’s how I found out about them. I have the GreenStamps building. There is no snow on it, but it is decorated in holiday decor. I don’t have any holloween buildings, but those look nice too. I like that the don’t have all of that glitter on them that gets everywhere, at least not the one that I has.

Get some every year. I collect mostly firehouses and the wife collects eateries and such.
Nice items and fairly priced.
I use the St. Nicholas Square buildings from Kohls. They look real nice. (Its like Dept. 56, but dont cost as much.)
I started getting a couple of buildings for under the tree but recently decided to put several on the layout at a hard to reach area. My wife had to have that Albee’s Drug Store! Anyhow, the photos below show a work in progress. I reworked the buildings to use a 12 to 16 volt lamp which a bit of a chore but fun. I now see where they offer a lighting accessory kit that has one power supply that will serve 6 buildings, using lower voltage lamps.
From Lemax, I have some sets from last year including the first version of the pirate ship, the pirate lighthouse, the deadman’s mine (really like that one) and the Mausoleum (guy in the door looks like the Tall Man from the Phantasm movies! I think I might glue a silver ball to his hand one of these days! [;)]
Thanks for the replys! Will go and lok at some Halloween today at 50% off …
Michaels and Boscovs
This year, thus far, I’ve just added the S&H Green Stamp redemption center and the Egyptain tomb (can’t figure out where I’m gonna put that one on the layout …). I’m pretty sure I’m going to get the Chinese resturant and probably the pharmacy (though I’ve already got another Lemax pharmacy in town …).
Found a 60% sale [:D]
Hello folks.
I work for a big retailer and this year we powered up all the carnival lemax diplays. We have now been running two of the carnival rides for two weeks non -stop and there still running great. So overall I am quite impressed with the motors in those units.I will definately purchase them at the end of the season when they go on sale.

I’ve been buying a lot of Lemax Halloween and Christmas items over the past 2+ years. I don’t have a Halloween train layout, but build two Lemax Halloween “displays” each year. One of my 2 Christmas train layouts is Lemax. Everyone loves the grist mill (a previous offering), since it uses actual water to turn the water wheel. While the Lemax buildings are close to “O”, the figures are more like “G”.
My advice is…if you see an item you want (especially the carnival stuff), buy it NOW! A “hot sale” is only good if the item you want is still in stock. Joe
AC MOORE had Halloween Lemax today at 75% off [:D]
I’m glad you brought up this topic. In my area Michaels sold Lemax items a few years ago and I bought a Lemax train set. Kind of a weird little set in that it came with only straight track and a a track mounted trip device that would contact a lever on the locomotive to make it reverse. I wanted at least a loop of track but the store manager said he was unable to order individual pieces of track so I didn’t pursue it any further.
My wife Linda has bought a number of these items for her Halloween display. Unfortunately I’m in Virginia right now, so I can’t list those I like. She’s paired them with her Dept 56 items for a pretty nice Halloween setup, along with my Halloween trains, of course! [:D]
prriscool,
Thanks for the Kohl’s tip. I picked up some very nice buildings.
Hey Joe H. Thanks for the tip on AC Moore, made a few purchases & saved a bunch!!
My son picked up a pirate ship for $15 and I bought a Motel, gargoyls and evil street lamps for $15!!!
Lowes sells some very similar to Lemax.
Just bought a 25 piece Christmas Village set at BJ’s for $49.99. Seems like a pretty good price for all the goodies you get. You get the three items pictured here plus a whole bunch of other figures, a footbridge, 4 or 5 trees, lights and other accessories. Dated 2006 but who cares? Check your local BJ’s.
