Anyone deal with KATO directly?

I have a bad loco straight out-of-the-box… Doesn’t respond at all to power, DC or DCC. Anyway, just wondering if I should deal directly with them or return it to where I bought it (internet order). Anyone have any experience?

Probobly talk to KATO, unless it was used. I don’t think most internet retailers have any policy on bad locos and such.

Just my[2c]

kato = good people, but takes a while for warranty work, when they say six to eight weeks, it might just be that long. They put a new motor in one of my locos but I was patient. They answered my couple calls and knew status but each event seems to wait it’s turn. I also bought a loco bad out of the box and the store (internet) took it back and sent me another one. so you just never know. So these were good people, too! I’d say, take your choice and just make a move one way or another and get the ball rolling. If the store will send you another you’ll probably be hauling trains quicker than return for warranty though.
